Since 1997 for eleven consecutive years, Senigallia has been
awarded the prestigious
European Blue Flag
,
official recognition by the FEE (Foundation for Environmental
Education) to beaches that guarantee the quality of bathing water,
concern for environmental matters, services and safety on the beach
and information to users.
For many years Senigallia has invested huge resources to guarantee
excellent quality town planning standards to holiday makers on the
“Velvet Beach”. Tourists can enjoy
thirteen kilometres of
beach
, the
splendid old town centre
and
the
wonderful surrounding hillsides in peace and
safety
. The sea water is monitored every fifteen days by
the local authorities, the long stretches of sand are taken care
of, daily, by the lifeguards and from next Summer on both West and
East beaches will have selected waste collection.
A practical network of
cycle paths
connects the
town with the beach area adding extra quality to your holiday. From
Summer 2007 the local council has provided about a dozen “
bike sharing
” pick up points, with a free service
of about a hundred bicycles for tourists.
Concerning shore safety, during the Summer season, all thirteen
kilometres of beach are guaranteed an efficient
lifeguard
service
, with more than sixty observation towers, fully
equipped for emergencies.
Another reason why for eleven years Senigallia has been honoured
with the European Blue Flag.
